DEC-A*: A Decentralized A* Algorithm

چکیده
A* is the algorithm of finding the shortest path between two nodes in a graph. When the searching problem is constituted of a set of linked graphs, A* searches solution like if it is face of one graph formed by linked graphs. While researchers have developed solutions to reduce the execution time of A* in multiple cases by multiples techniques, we develop a new algorithm: DEC-A* which is a decentralized version of A* composing a solution through a collection of graph. A* uses a distance-plus-cost heuristic function to determine the order in which the search visits nodes in the tree. Our algorithm DEC-A* extends the evaluation of the distanceplus-cost heuristic to be the sum of two functions : local distance, which evaluates the cost to reach the nearest neighbor node s to the goal, and global distance which evaluates the cost from s to the goal through other graphs. DEC-A* reduces the time of finding the shortest path and reduces the complexity, while ensuring the privacy of graphs.

Bounded Dynamic Programming for Decentralized POMDPs
Solving decentralized POMDPs (DEC-POMDPs) optimally is a very hard problem. As a result, several approximate algorithms have been developed, but these do not have satisfactory error bounds. In this paper, we first discuss optimal dynamic programming and some approximate finite horizon DEC-POMDP algorithms. We then present a bounded dynamic programming algorithm. Given a problem and an error bou...
متن کاملCOG-DICE: An Algorithm for Solving Continuous-Observation Dec-POMDPs
The decentralized partially observable Markov decision process (Dec-POMDP) is a powerful model for representing multi-agent problems with decentralized behavior. Unfortunately, current DecPOMDP solution methods cannot solve problems with continuous observations, which are common in many real-world domains. To that end, we present a framework for representing and generating Dec-POMDP policies th...
متن کاملPlanning with Macro-Actions in Decentralized POMDPs Citation
Decentralized partially observable Markov decision processes (Dec-POMDPs) are general models for decentralized decision making under uncertainty. However, they typically model a problem at a low level of granularity, where each agent’s actions are primitive operations lasting exactly one time step. We address the case where each agent has macroactions: temporally extended actions which may requ...
متن کاملAn Investigation into Mathematical Programming for Finite Horizon Decentralized POMDPs
Decentralized planning in uncertain environments is a complex task generally dealt with by using a decision-theoretic approach, mainly through the framework of Decentralized Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes (DEC-POMDPs). Although DEC-POMDPS are a general and powerful modeling tool, solving them is a task with an overwhelming complexity that can be doubly exponential. In this paper...
متن کاملThe Cross-Entropy Method for Policy Search in Decentralized POMDPs
Decentralized POMDPs (Dec-POMDPs) are becoming increasingly popular as models for multiagent planning under uncertainty, but solving a Dec-POMDP exactly is known to be an intractable combinatorial optimization problem. In this paper we apply the Cross-Entropy (CE) method, a recently introduced method for combinatorial optimization, to Dec-POMDPs, resulting in a randomized (sampling-based) algor...
متن کاملStick-Breaking Policy Learning in Dec-POMDPs
Expectation maximization (EM) has recently been shown to be an efficient algorithm for learning finite-state controllers (FSCs) in large decentralized POMDPs (Dec-POMDPs). However, current methods use fixed-size FSCs and often converge to maxima that are far from optimal. This paper considers a variable-size FSC to represent the local policy of each agent. These variable-size FSCs are construct...
